Motorists in Ajman will receive a 50 percent discount on traffic fines beginning November 4, as part of an initiative announced by Ajman Police.

The program offers the significant discount on fines accumulated from traffic violations committed in the emirate before October 31, and will run until December 15.

In a post on the social media platform X, authorities announced that the discount applies to all fines for violations committed in Ajman before October 31. This initiative also includes cancellation of the seizure of registered vehicles and traffic points. However, authorities clarified that the discount does not apply to "aggravated violations," which include reckless driving of light or heavy vehicles, truck drivers overtaking in prohibited areas, exceeding the speed limit by over 80 km/h, and making unauthorised modifications to vehicles. The authority urged all motorists to take advantage of the decision to settle outstanding violations and to adhere to traffic regulations to promote road safety.

"This initiative aims to encourage drivers to resolve outstanding fines and comply with traffic regulations to promote road safety," explained Sheikh Major General Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police.

Ajman Police has been working to improve traffic safety, deploying a new AI-operated monitoring system that utilizes electronic gates and smart cameras to capture violations in real time. Launched on October 1, this system targets offenses like mobile phone use while driving and failure to wear seat belts, helping to ensure a safer environment for both drivers and pedestrians.

Authorities are also using this opportunity to emphasize the importance of adhering to federal traffic laws. For instance, driving while using a mobile device incurs a fine of Dh400 and four black points, while failure to wear seat belts results in the same penalty. FLE/Expat Media
