More than 500 members of the Filipino community gathered in Al Ain on Saturday (June 7) to celebrate the 127th Philippine Independence Day in a vibrant event dubbed “Kalayaan 2025.” Organizers described the gathering as the “grandest and most heartwarming celebration” of Philippine Independence Day in the emirate—showcasing Filipino unity, pride, and patriotism. “This celebration is for our modern-day heroes—our OFWs,” said one of the event organizers. “Their sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering love for their families are the true essence of what it means to be Filipino.” Gracing the event was Arvic Arevalo, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General of the Philippine Embassy in the UAE, along with Filipino influencers and community leaders. Wilbert Rivera Cantor, Chairman of Kalayaan 2025 in Al Ain, noted the overwhelming response. “The feedback from our kababayans and special guests proves one thing: when Filipinos come together, we create something beautiful, powerful, and full of heart,” he said. The event was made possible through the collaboration of Filipino organizations, including the United Filipino Community Al Ain, along with dedicated volunteers, performers, and sponsors.
