Authorities will come knocking on your door in Sharjah. Don’t be alarmed

DUBAI – Starting on August 15, Sharjah police and government employees will be going door to door in more than 5,000 homes as part of a two-week census. The census is aimed at finding out how safe residents feel in their community, and will be conducted by the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah (DSCD), in cooperation with Sharjah Police. More than 5,000 Emiratis and expatriates will be surveyed and will be asked to fill out a questionnaire or answer a telephone interview. There are currently 1.4 million residents in Sharjah, including 175,432 Emiratis and more than 1.2 million expats, according to figures by DSCD. “We are proud that Sharjah Police placed its trust in our department to prepare and carry out this study using scientific statistical methodologies, which ensures the accuracy of the study’s results and their representation of the emirate's society,” said Sheikh Mohammed Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, head of DSCD. The last major census in Sharjah was carried out in 2017 to find out the safest areas in the emirate. According to results of that survey, Al Khalidiya was the safest district in the emirate.
