A total of 5,000 volunteers in the UAE packed 20,000 relief packages for Gaza on Sunday (October 29), said organizers of the Compassion for Gaza campaign. On Sunday, the campaign was held at three UAE aid events, including Festival Arena where volunteers worked from 9am to pack food items. The Compassion for Gaza campaign now reached its third week, with 58,000 aid packages completed with the help of more than 15,000 volunteers since October 15. The outpouring of public help reflects the UAE’s aim to ease the humanitarian crisis faced by those affected by the Israeli-Hamas conflict. The aid campaign is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent and the World Food Programme. Those wishing to volunteer to help prepare relief packages can register through several volunteering platforms, including Volunteers.Emirates, and the volunteers portal of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority.
