57 Dubai driving instructors fined in RTA crackdown

  DUBAI – In a crackdown targeting driving institutes and instructors, 57 driving instructors in Dubai were fined for not adhering to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) rules. The instructors were fined for various violations—from not complying with the allotted time of driving lesson to using a mobile phone during lessons. Others were fined for giving training in undesignated areas, eating drinking or reading during classes or leaving student drivers alone in the car. Under RTA rules governing driving institutes, there are 14 possible violations with fines of up to Dh1,000. Ahmad Hashem Behroozian, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the latest crackdown is “intended to ensure that the appropriate service content is delivered to the learner rather than wasting time”.
