More than 600 Filipinos to get rehired at Dubai Duty Free following Covid retrenchment

  DUBAI – More than 600 Filipinos who were laid off from their jobs at Dubai Duty Free due to the pandemic will be rehired at the company, a Philippine official in Dubai said on Sunday (November 21). Labour Attaché John Rio Bautista of the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) in Dubai said that Dubai Duty Free management told them the good news. “More than 600 Filipino workers will be coming back and their salary is competitive. Every week, we process not less than 100 contracts for OFWs who will be rehired,” Bautista said. Bautista was speaking at a virtual media briefing on Friday where he also shared that the UAE hospitals and clinics expressed interest in hiring Filipino healthcare workers.
