67 outlets fined, 70kg products seized in Ras Al Khaimah crackdown

  DUBAI - In its latest crackdown, Ras Al Khaimah fined 67 outlets and seized 70kg of products that posed as health and safety risks to consumers. A food truck used for selling food on the streets was also seized. The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality said carried out more than 300 inspections covering 862 food and health institutions in the emirate in December. The municipality seized 70kg of products found unfit for human consumption, including 17.5kg of food items and 52kg of cosmetic products, said Shaimaa Al Tunaiji, acting manager of the public health department. Al Tunaiji said the shops that were found violating health and safety rules were given warning letters and ordered to pay fines of up to Dh21,300. The municipality also culled 46 livestock that were found sick and unfit for human consumption. Authorities also seized 492kg of poultry at the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
