67% in UAE eye weight loss this summer

  DUBAI – A new survey revealed that 67 percent of the population in the UAE want to lose weight of up to 10.3kg this summer. The survey, by Allurion, was conducted on 1,000 respondents between the age of 18 and 65. It revealed that the coronavirus pandemic has been the catalyst of residents’ weight concerns. During the lockdown, UAE residents resorted to heightened snacking, with 53 percent of residents eating more frequently between meals than normal. The survey also identified snacking as the main cause of weight gain in the UAE, with 47 percent of UAE residents eating more than they used to before the pandemic. The increase in weight gain has seen the UAE enter into the next half of 2021 with 51 percent of its population stating they have gained at least 8kg in weight during the pandemic. This survey results come as Allurion got its second approval by the UAE Ministry of Health to offer a revolutionary gastric balloon as a non-surgical alternative to weight loss. ICA/Expat Media
