DUBAI - Eight people who were trapped in an apartment on fire in Ras Al Khaimah's Al Nakheel area have been rescued, police said on Tuesday. The cause of the blaze is still unclear although an investigation is underway. There were no casualties, said Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, director of the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence department. Al Zaabi said the timely intervention of firefighters helped rescue the eight people trapped in the burning apartment. Firefighters used ladders to reach the victims and take them out to safety. Al Zaabi, meanwhile, advised the public to regularly maintain their air conditioners and ensure that cooking stoves are maintained for safety and turned off when not in use.
