Nine Arab nationals face trial in UAE for kidnapping, assault, and blackmail. DUBAI POLICE

Nine Arab nationals have been referred to court in the UAE for allegedly forming an organized criminal gang accused of kidnapping, indecent assault, and blackmail. According to the Federal Public Prosecution, the case began after a victim filed a report via the digital platform "My Safe Society", claiming that he was kidnapped, bound, assaulted, and filmed naked. Investigations revealed that the suspects had lured the victim to one of their residences over a financial dispute, where they detained him for a week, forced him to sign debt instruments, and then blackmailed his family by sharing the footage on social media. Authorities confiscated the vehicle and mobile phones used in the crime, containing incriminating evidence of the gang’s activities. The Public Prosecution emphasized that the suspects’ actions pose a direct threat to state security, with penalties ranging from life imprisonment to death. Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, said: “Safeguarding the nation’s security and stability is a top national priority that permits no tolerance. The Public Prosecution will enforce the law impartially and ensure that perpetrators of crimes threatening national security are brought to justice.” ICA/Expat Media
