9-week Filipino foodfest to run in Dubai

DUBAI – Filipino culinary wonders are going to take over the UAE in a 9-week foodfest starting on July 1, according to Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Dubai. The food festival, dubbed PINASarap sa UAE, will run until August 31 and will feature the participating of 12 Filipino-operated restaurants in the UAE. The inaugural foodfest is the first of its kind in more than a decade. It is organized by the PBC - League of Food and Beverage Entrepreneurs (LFBE), with the support of the Philippine Consulate General and in collaboration with PTIC. Philippines Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes said the upcoming Filipino food fest will help “spread awareness about Philippine flavors and Filipino cuisine for other ethnicities to enjoy.” “This is also a tool for our Filipino restaurants to generate interest among the other ethnicities in this part of the world and thereby create a deeper understanding of who we are as a people,” Cortes added. A dozen restaurants will participate in PINASarap: Agemono, Draft Corner Café, Face Café, Joy Bubble, Kubyertos Cuisine, Off the Hook, Ounce, Paluto, Panadero, Shokuji, The Desert Wok and Zutto Suki. Customers at these restaurants will get a “dining passport” that will be stamped each time they dine there. The passport can be entered into a raffle draw for a chance to win prizes, including round-trip tickets to the Philippines, said Gina Valbuena, chairperson of LFBE. “All 12 official members will issue these ‘dining passports’ to interested customers – Filipinos and other foreign nationals – who can then qualify for the raffle draw by having their ‘passports’ completely stamped,” Valbuena said. A draw will be held on September 3. ICA/Expat Media
