90 nurses scammed with fake Dubai jobs offered work at UAE hospitals
DUBAI – Ninety nurses from India who were duped into coming to Dubai by fake job recruiters have been saved, thanks to the help of VPS Healthcare. The hospital group has offered all possible assistance to the nurses after its managing director, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, learned of their plight. According to the nurses, some of them paid up to Dh10,000 to a bogus recruitment agency in India that promised them a job with a monthly salary of Dh4,500 in the UAE. When they arrived here in March, they were shocked to find out there was actually no job waiting for them. The nurses have since been offered full time work, with the help of healthcare provider VPS Healthcare. Forty-one of the nurses are already employed, while 49 are waiting for clearance to start working at 10 hospitals in the UAE. “We have given special consideration to eligible healthcare workers who have been trapped for a long time and facing financial issues,” said Sanjai Kumar, chief HR officer at VPS Healthcare.
