Abu Dhabi: Abandoned cars to be auctioned if left unclaimed

Motorists in Abu Dhabi have been warned that if they leave abandoned automobiles in public spaces, they will face legal action, including having them auctioned off. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced on Wednesday (March 23) that it would take action after discovering abandoned cars – as well as those parked unlawfully – in Abu Dhabi's multi-story car parks and Mussaffah's M18 parking area. Many of the vehicles that have been parked for over a month are suspected to be unregistered and unpaid parking tickets. The owners were ordered to correct the problem by the ITC, the emirate's public transportation, and parking regulator. "Neglecting to do so might lead to ITC taking any necessary legal actions," it said. Motorists should avoid blocking other vehicles in parking lots, according to authorities.
