The new road alert system in Abu Dhabi. ABU DHABI POLICE

The Abu Dhabi Police has activated a new traffic alert system to let motorists know about weather conditions or traffic incidents. The solar-powered devices look like radars and work round-the-clock. The devices can be seen from a distance of up to 200 meters. When the red and blue indicators are flashing, it means there is a traffic accident ahead. If the yellow indicator is on, it is warning of weather conditions like rain, fog or dust. In Abu Dhabi, a smart system monitors the weather and automatically reduces the speed limit on roads during adverse conditions. When visibility drops, the speed limit is reduced to 80km/hour, and the speed limits are displayed on electronic information boards on highways. Abu Dhabi’s AI-powered system also detects if drivers commit safety violations, such as not wearing a seat belt or using the phone while driving. ICA/Expat Media
