Passengers at Abu Dhabi Airport’s Terminal A won’t need to use passports in the near future. According to Abu Dhabi Airport, Terminal A will use facial recognition technology to screen passengers and minimise wait times when it is fully operational. Terminal A be the first in the world to include all nine biometric airport touchpoints. In the first phase, this will see biometric solutions installed in key areas, such as self-service bag drops, immigration eGates and boarding gates. Thousands of passengers from more than 15 airlines are expected to pass through Terminal A when it opens to the public on November 1. Its operation will cover three phases over two weeks. The terminal is equipped with high-tech facilities including an advanced baggage handling system capable of processing up to 19,200 bags per hour.

What else can you see in Terminal A?

When fully operational, Terminal A will be a "shopper’s paradise" covering 35,000sqm with 163 retail concessionaires and food and beverage stores offering a variety of shopping and dining opportunities.
