Seven men have been sentenced by the Abu Dhabi court for claiming to be able to "treat people" with sorcery or black magic. They were found guilty of practicing sorcery, deception, and possessing materials associated with black magic. They were sentenced to six months in jail along with a fine of Dh50,000, and told to pay judicial fees. According to the UAE Public Prosecution, the seven men were previously referred to court after a man who fell victim to their scam reported them. One of the defendants told the victim that he has been possessed by the "king of the kings of jinn," an entity purportedly "over 400 years old". He also claimed that God chose him to be possessed by the jinn to help heal people. The other defendants also claimed to be possessed by the jinns, which they believed possessed the power to "heal people", said the prosecution. The Public Prosecution emphasised that claiming or practising sorcery is a crime punishable by law, and urged the public to report any suspicious activities. DMM/MFD/Expat Media
