A boy has been recognized by Abu Dhabi Police for his bravery in reporting a hit-and-run incident, highlighting the importance of community responsibility in the UAE. Mamyar Ahmed immediately contacted authorities after witnessing a motorist hit a motorbike with his vehicle and flee the scene. Ahmed’s prompt action led to praise from Major General Ahmed Saif Bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Director of Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, who commended the boy's sense of civic duty. "Ahmed’s swift response demonstrated social responsibility, which is crucial for promoting road safety," said Major General Al Muhairi. He encouraged the youth to continue being vigilant and to uphold the values of safety and community welfare. The recognition comes as part of Abu Dhabi Police's ongoing efforts to involve citizens in safeguarding public spaces. The presence of individuals like Ahmed, according to the police official, serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that individuals, regardless of age, can have in ensuring road safety. Hit-and-run cases in the UAE are treated with the utmost seriousness, with offenders facing severe penalties including imprisonment and fines of at least Dh20,000, depending on the severity of the incident. The Abu Dhabi Police hope that recognizing acts like Ahmed’s will encourage more people to take an active role in reporting dangerous driving behaviors and help reduce the number of accidents on the road.
