Abu Dhabi: Construction firm ordered to pay Dh883,000 to bus rental company after evading payment
A construction business in Abu Dhabi has been ordered to pay a bus supply and rental company of Dh883,000. The business had contracted buses from it to carry its employees, but it refused to pay. According to official court documents, the bus supply and the rental company filed a case with the Abu Dhabi Commercial Court, requesting that the contracting company pay Dh883,000 for their vehicles and other equipment rentals. The bus rental company stated that it had negotiated a contract with the construction company to rent buses to its personnel. The rental amount accumulated over time, and the contracting firm refused to pay, prompting the plaintiff to sue. To back up its claims, the complainant provided the court with a copy of its commercial license, a copy of the defendant's commercial license, a contract, and copies of purchase orders and invoices. The documents determined the value of the defendant's obligation to pay to be more than Dh883,000. Following a hearing from all sides, the judge delivered a judgment requiring the contracting firm to pay the bus supply and rental company Dh883,000. In addition to the plaintiff's legal fees, the court ordered the corporation to pay legal interest at 5% per year on the sum.
