The Abu Dhabi Appellate Court has dismissed the case of a woman who sued her brother over an alleged debt of Dh71,000. In her lawsuit, the woman claimed that her brother borrowed Dh101,00 from her but did not repay her. However, he gave her his car worth Dh30,000. She demanded that he return Dh71,000 to her along with 12 percent interest and other court fees. She initially won the case at the lower court, but her brother appealed the verdict, saying that his sister forged her supporting documents. A forensic laboratory report confirmed that the documents she submitted as evidence were all fake. The court overturned the previous verdict, dismissed the case, and obliged the woman to pay all court fees, as well as her brother’s legal fees and lawyer’s fees. ICA/Expat Media
