A man in Abu Dhabi has been ordered to pay Dh30,000 in fines and compensation after he was found guilty of secretly filming a woman. According to court records cited by Emarat Al Youm, the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court ruled that the man must pay the woman Dh20,000 in damages for reputational and emotional harm, in addition to a Dh10,000 fine. The ruling upheld an earlier criminal court judgment that convicted him of violating the woman’s privacy. The woman, who filed a civil claim, said the incident caused her psychological distress, reputational damage, and stigmatization within her community. Judges agreed that she suffered significant harm, ruling that civil law requires compensation for damages inflicted on others. The man was also ordered to cover legal costs and court fees.
