Abu Dhabi authorities are continuing a crackdown on reckless e-scooter riders and cyclists in the capital, recording a total of 5,380 violations. More than 6,000 warnings were issued to violators, according to the Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) on Monday. Under Abu Dhabi rules, e-scooter riders and cyclists must use protective helmets, reflective vests and lighting devices, and adhere to traffic rules. Bicycles and e-scooters are banned on roads with speed limits above 60kmph. Violators will be fined up to Dh500. Currently, e-scooter rentals are available in Abu Dhabi’s five regions: Al Reem Island, Masdar City, Yas Island, the Corniche area, and Khalifa City. The ITC plans to expand e-scooter rental services to include areas such as Hamdan Street, Al Falah Street, Shakhbout Street and Al Raha Beach.
