  ABU DHABI – The contractor, consultant and subcontractor at a worksite where a crane collapsed in Abu Dhabi have been suspended until further notice. A construction crane collapsed on Wednesday as it was being lifted by a smaller crane in Al Zahiyah area, injuring one worker. Seven cars parked near the crane were also damaged by the collapsed heavy equipment. In a statement, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality said it is working with the Abu Dhabi Police to prepare a report of the investigation into the incident. The municipality said that further legal action will also be taken against the three entities. The municipality said it is holding the main contractor accountable, stressing that is must supervise all operations rigorously without relying solely on the subcontractor. Meanwhile in Sharjah, an investigation is ongoing into a crane collapse that killed a 31-year-old Sri Lankan worker and injured a 26-year-old Pakistani construction worker. The Sharjah Police has detained senior managers of the construction company, and summoned several workers for questioning. Construction work at the site has also been suspended pending an investigation into the incident.
