A man in Abu Dhabi has been ordered to pay Dh37,000 in damages to a woman whose car was destroyed in a car crash caused by his teenage son.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Family, Civil and Administrative Cases ruled in the favour of the woman, who said that the crash made her vehicle “unusable”. The ruling is final. According to records, the teenager was driving his father’s car and had crashed it into the woman’s car, causing serious damage. The woman had sued the teenage boy’s parent for Dh49,859 and also asked for 12 percent interest and the payment of her court fees and lawyer’s fees. The court ruled that the teenager’s mistake caused material damage to the woman. An expert assigned to assess the repair costs for the vehicle valued it at Dh19,000. The court then ruled that the parent compensate the woman with Dh37,000 for material and moral damages she incurred. ICA/Expat Media
