Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 15 minutes? Future UAE transport unveiled

  DUBAI – The UAE’s future transport will zip passengers from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 15 minutes at the fraction of the energy used by an electric car. The proposed new system of transport called Sky Pods was unveiled at the World Government Summit in Dubai on Sunday. On Monday, the Sky Pod continued to draw curious visitors, including His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Designer Anatoli Yunitski believes the cable car-like transport can become a global phenomenon and will revolutionise the way we travel in the UAE. How does it work? The Sky Pod would move along an elevated network of overpasses. It would have several models, including the 24-seater Unibus that can run at speeds of up to 500km per hour. “We are creating the most eco-friendly, comfortable, cost-efficient and productive transportation system ever,” Yunitski said.
