An employee who was seriously injured at work will be getting Dh300,000 in compensation from his employer, an Abu Dhabi court has ruled. The ruling was issued by the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court after the worker sustained multiple fractures and permanent disabilities in an on-site accident. The employee, whose injuries include a 60 percent disability in his right arm and 65 percent impairment in his ability to walk, filed a lawsuit against the company and his supervisor. The suit alleged negligence in providing a safe working environment, which led to the accident. Court documents revealed that the worker fell while performing his duties, resulting in fractures to his nose and thoracic vertebrae. The court-commissioned expert report confirmed that the injuries caused permanent disabilities in both the employee’s upper and lower limbs. In addition to the physical injuries, the worker sought compensation for moral damages, arguing that the company had failed in its duty to ensure proper safety measures. The court acknowledged the negligence and the emotional toll on the worker, ruling in his favor. Despite initially demanding Dh420,000 in compensation, the court settled on Dh300,000, factoring in the severity of the injuries and the company's responsibility. The ruling also included a provision for legal interest of 12 percent until the full payment is made.
