Abu Dhabi: Hindu temple gives away 10,000 handmade rakhis to workers, residents

Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Hindu festival that celebrates the link between sisters and brothers. The BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi commemorated the occasion in a special way. More than 10,000 rakhis — a sacred thread that sisters tie around their brothers' wrists as a sign of love and protection — were produced by the women's wing of the BAPS Hindu Mandir. During the special prayer, the rakhis were given to the more than 4,000 blue-collar workers in attendance, who came in different batches and belonged to businesses all around the country.
