Abu Dhabi has recently introduced the Medeem Center for Family Nurturing, a new center that is part of a broader effort to support engaged couples in the UAE. The initiative is part of the Medeem project developed by the Department of Community Development, and has been launched with the approval of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The centre's primary goal is to equip engaged and newly married couples with social, physical, and psychological skills, and knowledge for a successful married and family life. It provides guidance and counselling during the pre-marriage stage, and prepares engaged and newly married couples to manage all aspects of marital life and family formation through authentic Emirati values, and acceptable and moderate wedding practices. Journey of a Lifetime Experience, a facility designed to assist couples in wedding planning, was also introduced. The facility uses AI to make the wedding planning process interactive for couples as they select different wedding elements such as themes, designs and scents, and individual collective counselling sessions. The centre also offers six primary services for individuals across different age groups including a rehabilitation programme for engaged couples, family counselling to support struggling families, family mediation, post-divorce counselling, child custody arrangements, and educational awareness programmes for parents, families, and children.
