A man who broke into a couple’s hotel room in Abu Dhabi has been fined D100,000. The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases found the man guilty of criminal wrongdoing. The court heard that the man had broken the window using a sharp tool to enter their hotel room, forcing them to flee. The couple sued the trespasser and the hotel management for Dh500,000 in damages. At the preliminary criminal ruling, the man was fined Dh5,000 and court fees. The court cleared the hotel management, saying that the incident was not due to their negligence. A separate case was filed at the civil court, where the man was ordered to pay the couple a compensation of Dh100,000 for damages he caused. ICA/Expat Media
