An Al Ain resident who stabbed a woman in the face and other body parts with a kitchen knife has been ordered to pay the woman Dh150,000 in compensation for her injuries. The Al Ain Civil Court of First Instance ordered the man to pay the woman monetary damages for physical, moral, and material harm. The defendant was accused of stabbing the victim in an attempt to murder her. According to court documents, the woman filed a case against the man, seeking that he pay her Dh200,000 in compensation for the injuries she sustained due to the attack. The victim claimed the defendant stabbed her multiple times in the face, hands, thighs, and other body parts. She was rushed to the hospital while bleeding heavily. She spent weeks receiving treatment there, undergoing surgeries to treat the injured body parts. The stabbing left the woman with a 10% permanent disability in her arms, and she could no longer do most of her work alone. The defendant had already been convicted of attempting to murder the woman and was punished by the Al Ain criminal court. The criminal court judge urged the woman to pursue a civil complaint against the defendant to obtain compensation. After hearing from all parties, the civil court issued a ruling requiring the man to pay the plaintiff Dh150,000. The man was also ordered to pay the victim's legal fees. BKM/ Expat Media
