A new traffic awareness campaign by Abu Dhabi Police has gone viral after they released video footage showing a dramatic crash caused by sudden lane changes on a UAE motorway. The 30-second clip shows drivers swerving recklessly, barely avoiding collisions—until two cars crash violently into each other. One is thrown into a barrier, while the other spins into the middle of the road. “This kind of driving behaviour puts lives at serious risk,” police said in a statement. The force reminded motorists that driving in a way that endangers others carries a fine of Dh2,000, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. To release the vehicle, drivers must pay Dh50,000—or risk having it auctioned off. The warning follows an 8 percent rise in traffic accidents in the UAE, with 4,748 incidents recorded in 2024, according to the Ministry of Interior. ICA/Expat Media
