The Abu Dhabi Police has issued a warning about fraudulent Ramadan competitions circulating on social media, urging residents to stay alert to scams disguised as prize giveaways. Authorities revealed that scammers lure victims with fake cash prizes and then trick them into providing personal and banking details to "claim" their winnings. In some cases, victims are asked to transfer money to process the prize, only to later realize they have been deceived. Major General Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of the Criminal Security Sector, stressed that these competitions are designed to steal money and personal data. "We urge the public not to share personal or banking information and to verify the authenticity of any competition before participating," he said. Meanwhile, Brigadier Rashid Khalaf Al Dhaheri, head of the Criminal Investigations Directorate, warned residents against falling for fake charity donation requests that often circulate during Ramadan. "Anyone wishing to donate should only do so through official charities and institutions," Al Dhaheri emphasized.
