Abu Dhabi Police alerts residents of online scams.
Abu Dhabi Police has issued a warning about an increase in online scams, involving promises of job opportunities, pets for sale and discount deals. The police have issued a warning about cyber criminals pretending to be government organizations and popular brands using cold calls, texts, and fake websites to gather sensitive financial information. In some cases, scammers use recruitment agency websites to trick people into paying for jobs that don't exist or make fake websites from well-known restaurants and supermarkets that lure individuals with appealing offers in exchange for credit card information. Scammers also sell pets online and request buyers to pay for transportation fees from overseas. Abu Dhabi Police urged the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to their Aman service via phone by calling 800 2626 or by texting 2828.
