The restaurant went against UAE Law regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) ordered the shutdown of the Birat Manila Restaurant in Abu Dhabi for breaching food safety regulations. The restaurant was closed for violating the UAE Law regarding food, and for posing a public health risk. Multiple violations were found in the restaurant, including improper food storage and preparing non-halal food using the same tools and equipment as halal food. According to ADAFSA, the restaurant would remain closed until the problems are fixed. "To do so, the facility needs to change its equipment and thoroughly clean and sterilise the entire premises before reopening to the public,” ADAFSA said. Authorities added that the decision was a result of ongoing inspections to guarantee that the food was correctly cooked. All establishments in the emirate undergo inspections on a regular basis. The public are asked to call 800555 to report any violations. JG/Expat Media
