The Abu Dhabi Federal Criminal Appeal Court has sentenced an Arab man to 10 years in jail followed by deportation for money laundering. The court also seized Dh39 million from two companies owned by the man on charges of money laundering, evasion and forgery. Each company was fined Dh500,000, in addition to the confiscation of funds. The court verdict results from cooperation between the UAE’s law enforcement authorities, the Central bank and the Financial Intelligence Unit on the case. “The UAE is determined to disrupt organised crime in all its forms to protect the UAE and uphold the integrity of the international financial system,” according to authorities in a joint statement.
