Abu Dhabi shuts down butcheries infested with roaches

Two butcheries and a supermarket in Abu Dhabi have been shut down due to serious food and health violations, according to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. The butcheries were identified as Al Ayham Meat butchery and Al Amal butchery in Mushrif Mall. The supermarket was identified as Save Way Supermarket According to the authority, the establishments were shut down due to repeated violations of food safety requirements and have been fined. The butcheries were caught selling imported meat that was labelled as local meat, and for having a cockroach infestation in their premises. The Save Way Supermarket, located in the Khalidiya area, was shut down due to “repeated high-risk violations”, including selling expired food products. According to the authority, the establishments will remain shut down until they correct all their violations and pass the emirate’s food safety standards. The authority also said that it will continue to conduct surprise inspections, and also urged the public to report violating establishments through the toll free number 800555. ICA/Expat Media
