The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has shut down the Wafra butcher shop for multiple violations of the food safety law.
According to the authority, the butchery posed a serious risk to public health due to its “repeated high-risk offences.”
According to ADAFSA, the Wafra butcher shop also received three fines for repeated violations. These included selling spoiled or meat unfit for consumption. The butcher shop also handled meat without clear expiry date or slaughter date. It sold sheep meat, sheep liver and sheep head.
The authority said that the Wafra butchery will remain closed until it meets the UAE’s health and food safety requirements.
Meanwhile, the ADAFSA said it is continuing its surprise inspections of all food establishments in the emirate to ensure their compliance with food safety standards.
It also urged the public to report any health and safety issue with food, restaurants and other establishments via the toll-free number 800555.
