Abu Dhabi study: No deaths from Sinopharm vaccine

  ABU DHABI – No deaths were recorded among people who received full doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, according to a new study conducted in Abu Dhabi. “The study found no deaths related to Covid-19 have been recorded in patients who received all doses required,” the study found. The study, conducted by Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, also found that the vaccine is more than 90 percent effective in preventing hospitalization. The research found that a vast majority of those who completed their Sinopharm vaccination did not require hospital treatment. “The study found the efficacy of vaccination in preventing hospitalisation is 93 per cent, while the efficacy of vaccination in reducing the need to be admitted to an ICU is 95 per cent,” according to the study. Dr. Farida Al Hosani, official spokeswoman of the UAE health sector, has said Sinopharm may offer immunity for up to six months, but more research is needed. Al Hosani said that vaccines available in the UAE are “among the best in the world”. As of Sunday, a total of 28,737 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
