The Abu Dhabi Prosecution summoned a lawyer for spreading a fake court case on social media platforms in order to gain followers. The accused lawyer posted a video clip on social media with information claiming to be for a judicial institution. The video states that a father sued by his son for insulting him was convicted in court. The lawyer later revealed that the case was fake after being questioned by the Public Prosecution. The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution urges residents to stop spreading rumours that may harm the public order and to refrain from reposting or sharing information without verifying its official sources. Spreading rumours and false news are crimes punishable by the UAE law and can result in penalties of at least one year in prison and a fine of not less than Dh100,000. DMM/Expat Media
