The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) shut down "JAFCO Supermarket" in Abu Dhabi for violating Law No.2 of 2008 on food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the legislation issued in response to it. The Food Control Department at ADAFSA stated that the administrative closure resulted from repeated high-risk violations and the facility's failure to comply with food safety requirements. The inspectors reportedly observed an insect outbreak in the facility, a lack of cleanliness of refrigerators, floors, and food and vegetable and fruit display areas, improper storage of meat displayed for sale in very poor condition, and other violations. Despite multiple inspections, the facility received four fines and a final administrative closure warning, but it failed to correct its conditions. According to the ADAFSA, the administrative closure order will remain in effect until the violations are corrected and the facility meets all of the requirements to ensure the health and safety of food.
