Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2023, the global initiative championed by the UAE and its clean energy powerhouse Masdar to accelerate sustainable development, will feature a series of high-level sessions focused on the critical priorities for sustainable development. Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has promoted sustainability as a vital pillar of the UAE's economic and social progress and prosperity, the annual event will be held for the fifteenth time. Under the theme "United on Climate Action Toward COP28," key participants will talk discuss the COP28 climate agenda's top priorities, the necessity of involving all stakeholders from all sectors of society, and how to use the results of the first Global Stocktake of the Paris Agreement to accelerate climate progress at COP28 and beyond. Dr. As the UAE's Special Envoy for Climate Change and Chairman of Masdar, Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated, "For more than 15 years, ADSW has strengthened the UAE's commitment to addressing global challenges as a responsible leader driving climate action and sustainable economic development." "The world needs an equitable and inclusive transition to a sustainable energy system that meets the needs of developing countries while ensuring our shared future. With the right partnerships in place, ADSW can be a great platform for accelerating the uptake of clean technologies and ensuring that no one is left behind," he added. On January 18, ADSW 2023 will host the first-ever Green Hydrogen Summit, highlighting the technology's potential to decarbonize important industries and aid nations in achieving their net-zero goals. Masdar officially announced a new shareholding structure and the start of its green hydrogen business earlier this month, creating a clean energy powerhouse that will lead efforts to decarbonize the world. Masdar, one of its biggest clean energy businesses, is poised to dominate the market globally and further the UAE's position as an energy leader. Over 70 SMEs and start-ups from various industries, including Masdar City's global initiative Innovate, which will present cutting-edge international technologies, will participate in ADSW 2023. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for about 90% of all businesses worldwide.
