Abu Dhabi targets investments in early childhood development

Abu Dhabi is working to build a holistic approach to early childhood development in order to strengthen its international reputation as a child-friendly city. This is accomplished through three themes: humane technology for children and lifestyle in the twentieth century, emotional well-being and social connection, and establishing an atmosphere that fosters children's social and emotional growth. Dr. Jim Yong Kim, former President of the World Bank Group, underlined in a report titled "The Best Investments that Societies Can Make" that investing in the early years not only alters the lives of children but also changes the course of competitive growth. He emphasized the importance of investing in children's early years, particularly the first 1,000 days of life when their brain development is at its height, in order to help them reach their full potential and escape poverty. One of the most important aspects that Abu Dhabi has strived to create in this regard is the notion of diverting investments as a new method to managing lucrative assets for future generations. The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) exemplified these efforts, confirming that early childhood development is the future of human investment and that investing in children's emotional and social well-being in their early years has good long-term economic and social development impacts. The never-ending quest of social synergy in refocusing investment and focusing on childhood development as the core around which plans and budgets converge, eight ways to support the capital of this investment. These include developing technical design principles and creating frameworks and guidelines that enable technology companies and content creators to produce meaningful content that meets expectations and outputs, as well as launching an annual national survey to understand and monitor the use of technology among children, by parents and caregivers, and using the results to design effective programs, as well as developing technical design principles and creating frameworks and guidelines that allow technology companies and content creators to produce meaningful content that meets expectations and outputs. Implementing a comprehensive system or framework for child rights protection, investing in children's emotional and social well-being in their early years because of the positive effects on long-term economic and social development, and the need for parents to deal with online addiction for fear of its impact on their children's mental and physical development are all included in the strategies. Other strategies include the need for national research work to study the needs of children at the country level and working on successful investments based on these surveys, as well as the importance of introducing rehabilitation programs for parents to deal with children from pregnancy until the age of eight. The UAE Child Rights Law, formerly known as "the Wadeema Law," was enacted in 2016, and it provided legal rights to protect children from abuse and neglect, as well as to support their right to safety, shelter, healthcare, and education. According to the ECA, recent research shows that investing in early childhood development has numerous long-term development benefits, as evidenced by improved quality of life for children, increased productivity and economic activity, reduced crime and behavior contrary to societal values and customs, decreased reliance on government aid, and high IQ rates among children.
