According to the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), a tissue manufacturer has been ordered to stop selling its products and remove them from the market for failing to adhere to precise quantity specifications. The decision was made, according to Sultan Al Muhairi, director of the Council's business development and customer happiness department, after a customer complained about the shortage of paper tissues in the product. After obtaining product samples from the local market, the Council discovered, through laboratory testing, that the product did not adhere to the precise quantities required by legal requirements. Al Muhairi claimed that after the Council informed the manufacturer of the non-conformity, sales of the products were immediately halted. The manufacturer tracked the production line to determine the cause of the shortage and to prevent cases like these from happening again. Sales representatives and managers were informed to stop selling the product across all outlets and withdraw it right away. Al Muhairi stated that the Council has consistently been committed to implementing periodic control campaigns to check pre-packaged products in sales outlets in Abu Dhabi and to ensure complete accuracy across quantities and the percentage that the products conform to the mandatory requirement of 99 percent. From the beginning to the end of the third quarter of this year, the Council verified about 24,000 pre-packaged items across markets, factories, and major suppliers, representing 936 products. Al Muhairi emphasized the value of consumer feedback in alerting the Markets and Consumers Services Sector about pre-packaged goods that don't meet the requirements, particularly concerning the accuracy of quantity or weights, by calling the call center at 800555.
