Toll gate to be moved to avoid traffic jam by evaders
DUBAI – One of four Abu Dhabi toll gates will be moved to avoid traffic congestion in a residential area close to the gantry, officials said. Abu Dhabi is implementing road tolls beginning on October 15, with four toll gates installed across the emirate. The toll gate in Mussaffah will be moved onto the bridge and closer to the Bawabat Abu Dhabi interchange, said Ebrahim Al Hamoudi, executive director of Department of Transport. Al Hamoudi said the move is meant to discourage motorists from exiting to Bawabat Abu Dhabi Street to avoid the toll gate, and causing a traffic jam there. Toll gates have been installed at Sheikh Zayed, Maqta, Mussaffah and Sheikh Khalifa bridges. The rush hour toll fee is set at Dh4, while the off peak toll fee is Dh2.
