Abu Dhabi authorities have warned residents and visitors that heavy fines will be imposed for camping or holding events in public places without proper approval, with penalties increasing for repeat offences. The warning was issued by Al Dhafra Municipality, which urged the public to comply with regulations designed to preserve public order and appearance. According to the municipality, organising, managing, or promoting an event, or camping in public areas without prior authorisation will result in a Dh10,000 fine for the first offence, Dh15,000 for the second, and Dh20,000 for the third. Violations involving expired licences or failure to follow licence conditions will also attract penalties. These offences carry fines of Dh3,000 for the first offence, Dh5,000 for the second, and Dh7,000 for the third. Authorities said public nuisance violations fall into 11 categories and cover a wide range of behaviours that disrupt public spaces. These include entering areas reserved for specific groups, such as families or one gender, illegally reserving seats meant for the elderly or people of determination, distributing flyers or printed materials in public places, and washing animals or personal items in non-designated areas. Other violations include using loudspeakers or radios in public, causing noise disturbances, using laser lights, stirring up dust, releasing offensive or dangerous substances, and relieving oneself in non-designated places. Each of these offences carries a fine of Dh1,000 for the first violation, Dh2,000 for the second, and Dh4,000 for the third. Spitting, blowing nasal secretions, blocking sidewalks or pedestrian crossings, obstructing entrances and emergency exits, and smoking in non-designated areas are also punishable offences. These violations carry fines starting at Dh500, rising to Dh2,000 for repeat offenders.
