A woman who sent an insulting message to a man via WhatsApp has been ordered to pay him Dh23,000 in restitution. According to court documents, the man filed a complaint against the woman, seeking Dh600,000 in compensation for the moral and material damages he allegedly experienced due to the woman's abusive messages. The man's lawsuit stated that the woman insulted and abused him via WhatsApp messages, which psychologically impacted him. The man's reputation among his peers and coworkers was also affected due to the rude and disrespectful messages. The woman was previously convicted in absentia by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of insulting the man and violating cyber laws. The court fined the woman Dh5,000. Following the issuance of the verdict, the man went to civil court and filed a compensation claim. After hearing all parties, the court ordered the woman to pay the man Dh23, 000 in addition to his legal expenses.
