Abu Dhabi Club to Pay Dh20,000 to Woman Who Slipped in Washroom

A woman who slipped in the wet washroom of a club in Abu Dhabi will be getting Dh20,000 in compensation, a court has ruled. The Abu Dhabi Court of Family, Civil and Administrative cases ordered the club to compensate the woman with Dh20,000 after she fractured the bone of her right hand in the accident. The woman had originally sued the club for Dh100,000 as well as legal interest and lawyer’s fees after she slipped and fell in a wet area in the washroom. An accident report confirmed that the woman slipped and injured herself during the incident. The court found the club guilty of negligence that led to the woman’s accident. The UAE law on personal injury claims are governed by the UAE Civil Code. The injury caused on a person makes the basis on what a claimant can seek damages for. The courts can award compensation for physical and material damages, moral damages, as well as loss of earnings and loss of opportunity. ICA/Expat Media
