Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, met with Tesla founder Elon Musk to discuss potential collaborations in artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at driving technological advancements and improving global quality of life. Sheikh Tahnoun shared the update via social media, stating that their discussions focused on “strategies to strengthen collaborative efforts in AI.” Musk, who also owns X (formerly Twitter), and Sheikh Tahnoun are exploring how these innovations can be leveraged to optimize resources and unlock new opportunities for technological advancement. As chairman of Abu Dhabi-based tech company G42, Sheikh Tahnoun highlighted the potential for AI to accelerate societal improvements through innovation. This meeting took place during a high-level visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the United States. Both countries have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing technology and innovation, particularly through AI, to benefit economic and social development. Sheikh Tahnoun emphasized the importance of creating regulatory frameworks to address the risks associated with AI. One such effort includes a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft in G42 to support its AI operations. G42 has partnered with Nvidia to develop AI-powered solutions, such as weather forecasting systems that will significantly improve prediction accuracy worldwide.
