Abu Dhabi elevates sustainability to new heights following the launch of its innovative Green bus service starting today (September 12). According to the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, these green buses are powered by clean hydrogen and electric energy. The new service will run on Route 65, connecting Marina Mall to Shams Boutik on Al Reem Island. This initiative represents an important step forward in the Green Bus Programme, launched by Abu Dhabi Mobility, to turn Abu Dhabi Island into a green public transport zone by 2030. The Green Bus Programme is designed to evaluate and oversee Abu Dhabi's public transport buses. It aims to identify the best hydrogen and electric power technologies and solutions and make them accessible to residents, visitors, and commuters in the emirate. Furthermore, the programme aims to lower carbon emissions from public transport in Abu Dhabi. It will set clear guidelines for green buses that match the city's climate and operational needs. The launch of this initiative highlights Abu Dhabi's commitment to the Paris Agreement and its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. FLE/Expat Media
