Jamshed Ali works as a driver in Abu Dhabi.
Jamshed Ali, a Pakistani limousine driver in Abu Dhabi, became an internet sensation for his heartwarming generosity—offering free rides to the sick and disabled. Now, Ali’s journey of kindness faces a roadblock as financial struggles threaten to strip him of his car and his mission. Speaking to Expat Media, Ali revealed that he has received notices for repossession of his Mitsubishi Outlander after falling behind on installments. "I am worried," he admitted. "If my car is taken, I won’t be able to help the people who need me." Ali’s troubles began when unexpected expenses disrupted his ability to pay Dh4,826 in monthly installments plus Dh1,500 in fees on the vehicle he had bought for Dh106,172. Ali’s story captured the public's attention when a photo of a sign inside his car went viral. It read: "This is an Uber Careem taxi, but it’s free for disabled and sick people. If they don’t have money, no problem—I will give you a ride for free." Ali’s family support his mission, even as they face their own financial challenges. He explained, "My family is my pillar. They know how important this is to me." The driver’s acts of kindness are legendary. During heavy rains, he distributed water and food to stranded passengers. His car, a haven on wheels, includes snacks, water bottles, and mobile chargers. “When someone takes even a sip of water from my car, I feel incredibly good,” Ali shared. While Ali’s future hangs in the balance, he remains hopeful. "If God chose me for this job, He will find a way," he said. A growing number of social media users have rallied around Ali, calling for community support to help him keep his car and continue his mission of kindness.
