Abu Dhabi extends paid maternity leave for Emirati mothers working in the private sector. The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) provided the details of Maternity Leave Support for Women in the Private Sector Initiative, which offers an additional 30 days of paid maternity leave to support Emirati mothers working in Abu Dhabi's private sector. In the UAE, mothers working in the private sector are entitled to only up to 60 days of maternity leave, with 45 days fully paid and the remaining days paid at half salary. This is in contrast to mothers working in the government receiving three months of fully paid maternity leave. This new initiative will help mothers to be financially secure as they are given more time to care for their newborns. The 90-day fully paid maternity leave applies to mothers who will give birth from September 1 onwards. The initiative is part of the Emirati Family Growth Support Programme by Abu Dhabi's Department of Community Development (DCD), which aims to support UAE nationals in building and growing their families, from marriage to raising children.
